We’re excited for carnival and want to keep this fun tradition going for our school! However, we’ve noticed that volunteer sign-ups have been very low so far. For carnival to run successfully, we need every family to help by covering just ONE VOLUNTEER SHIFT. The sign up came from your homeroom carnival representative. That’s all it takes to keep everything running smoothly and make the event possible. We would truly appreciate everyone stepping up so we can keep this special event going for our kids. It takes a village to make Carnival magical. Sign up today and be part of the Cotton Candy Skies magic!

WCE is celebrating National Nutrition Month by participating in the VegOut! program throughout the month of March. This fun, friendly challenge encourages everyone to eat more veggies. The challenge is simple –
TRY 30 different vegetables within 30 days!
- Check your Friday folder for a letter with more details and a checklist of vegetables. Mark off all the vegetables you try and turn in your list by March 31st to your homeroom teacher.
- House points will be awarded to students who complete the challenge (but the real win is getting kids to try more vegetables!).
Questions? Contact:
Ms. O’Rear and Tiffany Baumgartner
VegOut starts March 1st and ends March 31st!

Bayou City Blessings in a Backpack is an organization that helps combat food insecurity in the Houston area (www.bayoucityblessings.org). Every Friday of the school year, food bag ‘blessings’ are delivered to over 2300 students in order to help 'bridge the gap' between Friday’s school lunch and Monday’s school breakfast. One of the schools Bayou City Blessings serves is Wilchester’s sister school, Buffalo Creek Elementary. Each Friday, BCBB relies on volunteers to transport and deliver bags to BCE. If you’re interested in helping, please use the Sign Up Genius link below. Please complete your SBISD volunteer background check before volunteering.

Calling all volunteers! The library is ready for you to volunteer and make the Spring 2026 semester amazing. We have three different ways you can help out. Sign up for one, two, or all three. Can't wait to see you in the library.
Volunteers are needed two days each week to keep the books on the shelves. Duties are easy - scan in books returned by students and then shelve the books so they are ready for the next readers. Sign up here.
If you are interested in helping with library projects, we need you! Fill out this Google Form so we can be in touch.
Sign up to be in the library during your child's classroom library time. You can sit with your child while the lesson is taught and then help him/her and the classmates find books. Sign up here. It is organized by grade and then teacher; using a computer rather than a mobile device might be easier.

Send a Smile, Straight to the Classroom!

Have a friend who didn't receive an eBlast this week? It's probably because they missed the deadline to join the PTA. Oops. Good thing we will still accept their membership through the "Small Form" throughout the year.
Please forward the link below to your friend so they can join.
And, did you know that belonging to Wilchester's PTA gives you access to great discounts on goods and services through Texas PTA? Click here to learn more!

Calling all Watch D.O.G.S.
The Watch D.O.G.S program is officially back at WCE for the second year.
A huge thanks to Wes Bergeron, John Buri and Jonathan Foy for your leadership to get things going this year. If you aren’t familiar with WatchDOGS you can check out their website at https://dadsofgreatstudents.
Volunteering begins this week. As stated previously, you MUST be an approved SBISD volunteer (renewed each year) in order to be a WatchDOG. Now is the time to register if you haven’t done so this year.
You can access the SBISD volunteer application here. Once you have registered, you may use this sign up genius to choose your volunteer day.
Questions about Watch DOGS? Please email watchdogswce@gmail.com and we'll get back to you.

Let’s give our wonderful Wilchester staff an occasional break from lunch duty so that they can enjoy lunch as a grade level team! We’ve chosen our monthly Teacher Appreciation Luncheon days to help cover lunch duty for our teachers.
Please only sign up for one slot for each child so we can allow everyone to get a chance! If they don't fill up we will send out again.
Lunch duty involves getting students into the lunch line, helping to open food containers, and reminding students to stay in their seats. An administrator will be available to help with any behavior issues or other incidents.
**YOU MUST BE REGISTERED AS AN SBISD VOLUNTEER TO PARTICIPATE!
|

The district requires everyone to sign up each year in order to volunteer in the classroom, go on field trips, help during school events, and participate in other Wilchester activities. Any family member who may volunteer at Wilchester (Mom, Dad, Grandparent, etc) should plan to sign up.
