Beginning October 2, 2026 through April 16, 2027 you can become a Math & Reading Star by going above and beyond in your learning!
Each time you complete 30 extra minutes of math or 1 extra hour of reading, you earn a star. Use this Tracking Sheetto color in or sticker your stars as you go. Finish 24 stars in math, reading or both and you’ll earn shout outs, recognition and a shiny medal for your hard work!
So visit the library, grab a book, sharpen your pencils, and start collecting those stars. We can’t wait to see you shine!

Start Your Day with Morning Movers!
What: Morning Movers is a great way to instill good habits in students by moving their body before school through running, jogging, or walking around the WCE playground to fun music.
When: Every Tues/Thurs 7:25-7:45am (weather permitting) starting Sept 15th and ending Dec 10th
Who: Open to all WCE students (PreK-5th graders)
Where: Meet on Hardtop
Come join us and get moving! You will earn a bead for every mile you complete, and a “foot” for every 5 miles. We’ll give you a ring to put on your backpack so you can proudly display your accomplishments!

Let's give our wonderful Wilchester staff an occasional break from lunch duty so they can enjoy lunch together as a grade-level team! We've chosen our monthly Teacher Appreciation Luncheon days to help cover lunch duty for our teachers.
Lunch duty involves getting students into the lunch line, helping to open food containers, and reminding students to stay in their seats.
Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to meet your grade level at the cafeteria door to help the students get seated and into the lunch line. Many thanks for your help!

Plus special entry into a raffle for a chance to win a bookish basket (including movie tickets) from Mrs. Silliman AND be the student to: choose the class read aloud, use the scanner to check-in books, and choose library stations for your class one day this fall!

Last year, Wilchester families helped stock a Care Closet at our sister school, Buffalo Creek Elementary. The Care Closet has toiletries and personal-care items that students may not have access to at home. It's been a huge hit, and it's time to restock a few things!
If you'd like to contribute, please shop the Amazon Wish List, and items will be shipped directly to Buffalo Creek. Every donation, big or small, helps ensure the Care Closet remains a valued resource for those kiddos.
Teachers at our sister school, Buffalo Creek Elementary, have shared their classroom wishlists with us — what a great opportunity to support them and their students! We've organized the Amazon Wish Lists by grade level, so you can even shop for a BCE teacher who teaches the same grade as your child.
Ever wonder how your child's name and birthday get to be displayed on the Wilchester School Marquee? Well here's your answer. You just sign up! But you better act fast because we have over 850 students at Wilchester and only 14 spots available each month.
Have your child featured on the marquee in front of the school for their entire birthday month, beginning in September.
It makes for a great photo op and the kids are always so proud to see their name in lights.

Last year we had an incredible response from you all and we want to build on it this year! In fact, we had 177 individual WatchDOGS sign up last year! 30 of those WatchDOGS 2days...and 3 of those WatchDOGS did 3 Days! We had 85% of all slots for WatchDOGS were filled - that's no doubt, the best response in all of SBISD!
Volunteering will begin August 31st. As stated previously, you MUST be an approved SBISD volunteer (renewed each year) in order to be a WatchDOG.

The district requires everyone to sign up each year in order to volunteer in the classroom, go on field trips, help during school events, and participate in other Wilchester activities. Any family member who may volunteer at Wilchester (Mom, Dad, Grandparent, etc) should plan to sign up.
